How to turn off 2-Step Verification?

Signing in with a password and a verification code means your Gmail account is more secure. When you remove this extra security layer, you will only be asked for account password when you log-in, which makes it easier for someone to break into your Gmail account.

Turning off “2-Step Verification”

1.     In “log-in & security” section of My Account, select 2-Step Verification button. Log-in with your account username, password, and verification code if asked.
2.     Select Turn off 2-Step Verification button.
3.     A pop-up window will appear to confirm that you want to turn off 2-Step Verification. Then Select Ok.

Revoking app passwords you no longer use

If you used App Passwords to authorize applications to access your Gmail Account, you may see errors when you turn off “2-Step verification”. If this happens, re-enter your Gmail Account password. Google recommend you go back to using passwords — rather than App Passwords — to access these applications. To revoke your app passwords, please follow the given steps:
1.     Sign in to Gmail Account.
2.     In the “log-in & security” section, select log-in to Google.
3.     Choose App passwords, you may have to re-enter your password.
4.     Select Revoke for any app or device whose code you want to revoke.
